Tattoos after pregnancy?

Bit of irony to this question lol - I used to have my navel pierced 4 times in a cross, and then I fell pregnant and it has absolutely obliterated my belly button - the piercings are now gone but the holes are now long slits, there are stretchmarks fanning out of each slit and the metal has stained my skin there brown over the years. It has made even the politest people gasp in horror! (no 'serves you right's'! lol). Anyway, I've been considering designing a tattoo, either a floral design or a tiger rearing, coming up diagonally from my hip bone so that the top acts as a cover up job for the ruined belly button. My question is, if I choose to have more children in the future, which currently isn't the plan but you never know, will this ruin the tattoo to the point where it can't be touched up and made to look half decent again? Considering my stomach is terrible anyway I'll happily find the lesser of two evils!
Tattoos after pregnancy?
yeah dont do it .. i thimk it wouldnt look rite
Reply:I would not do it because if you get pregnate again it will stretch the tattoo out and make it look worse.
Reply:I wouldn't do it. If you do decide to have another baby, there is a high chance the tattoo would become disfigured as each baby grows in different ways and sizes and sits differently during each pregnancy. I would wait until you're certain that you're finished having children and then get a tatoo.

I have horrific stretch marks and I thought I'd be ok with my 2nd child and wouldn't get anymore but that wasn't the case. I got new ones and the other ones were re-stretched.

The tattoo is a good idea when you're ready though!
Reply:A tattoo is an option, it will not cover the stretched out piercing, if you do decide to get a tat and do end up pregnant again just make cocoa butter your best friend and you will do just fine. NOTE: This only works if you apply several times a day from the start of the pregnancy.
Reply:It will be very painful for the tattooo to go over scar tissue..and you will still be able to see the scarring underneath. Yea, the tattoo will stretch if you have any more children, so perhaps you should just wait, til you have all the children you want

Good luck with that =]
Reply:a tattoo will not cover up a scar, it will only enhance it. trust me, ive seen it done many many times. my fiance is a tattoo artists, and he will do everything in his power to talk a woman out of it, who is trying to cover up stretch marks from a pregnancy. scars tend to not hold ink as well as healthy skin too.
Reply:Hmm...you are supposed to take out the piercings when you become pregnant. You didn't state if you did that or not, but if you didn't, that's probably why you have this problem, if you did, then that must suck :/

I'm sure it will look a lot better with time when your skin tightens up more. You should give it about a year to see how it looks. Tattoos on your stomach, especially your belly button, will stretch out and look pretty bad if you have another child. I think you should just leave it alone and put some scar treatments around the "slits".
